Was the Global Warming Expedition Postponed Because of Too Much Ice?

The funniest thing has happened: a 115-day expedition was planned in order to study manmade global warming and the resulting melting Arctic sea ice, but it had to be postponed. Why? Well, because there was too much ice. Ironic, isn’t it? Luckily for them they didn’t make complete fools of themselves by going and getting stuck in the ice and in need of being bailed out. I mean it has happened before, but that’s another story.

So, to avoid the embarrassing episode of getting stuck in the ice again, this team of scientists who were headed for the Arctic decided it was best not to take any chances. There was too much ice to trudge through. So they postponed their trip.

According to a Coast Guard officer the conditions are the “worst he’s seen in 20 years” (reports CBC news).

In addition, a recent report actually showed that Arctic sea ice grew by about a third over the past couple years, according to the BBC.
