The Great Climate Change Fraud Proves To Be a Total Nonsense, Again!

Methane and other gases transparent to infrared, IR, radiation, absorbing very little and certainly not heating the atmosphere, are now favorite targets of "climate change" panic pushers. They are now all worked up about methane in the Arctic Circle, obviously not realizing that there is no way they can blame man as all the methane there was generated millions of years ago when the poles were warm rain forests.

In an exclusive interview with The Independent, Igor Semiletov of the International Arctic Research Centre at the University of Alaska Fairbanks - who led the 8th joint US-Russia cruise of the East Siberian Arctic seas - said that he has never before witnessed the scale and force of the methane being released from beneath the Arctic seabed.

Apparently, scientists estimate that there are hundreds of millions of tons of methane gas locked away beneath the Arctic permafrost, which extends from the mainland into the seabed of the relatively shallow sea of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf.

So, one of the greatest ‘fears’ of some scientists is that with the disappearance of the Arctic sea ice in summer, and rapidly rising temperatures across the entire Arctic region, which are already melting the Siberian permafrost, the trapped methane could be unexpectedly released into the atmosphere which would lead to rapid and severe climate change.

Now, if we were to talk about the truth, and we should, the truth is that this is the IR absorption chart from the American Meteorological Society. IR capture is represented by the areas under the curves. Note the two small spiked absorptions at three and eight microns for methane compared to the large areas for water vapor which accounts for by far most of the IR capture in the total Atmosphere.

Why don’t these climate change alarmists talk about capturing the methane and using it to generate heat and energy for the economy, instead of Ph.D.’s writing grant proposals? Well, the attraction of "free money" from the taxes we pay is way too big, so...

In fact, nitrogen, the most abundant gas in air, has one small IR spike similar to those for methane, but at five microns and it is classified as "ransparent" to IR, i.e. absorbing no energy. So, again, promoting this climate change fraud, proves to be a total nonsense.
